Farmers’ protests in several European countries have been weaponized to spread false or misleading claims to discredit political action against climate change and fuel deep-seated distrust towards the European Union, according to a report on climate disinformation related to the protests.
Ahead of the 2024 European Parliament elections, Science Feedback has partnered with the European Fact-Checking Standards Network (EFCSN) and over 40 organizations to create Elections24Check – a comprehensive open database of fact-checks, debunks, and reports on disinformation narratives across the continent.
This quick check study suggests that the information panels applied by YouTube are highly unlikely to have the desired effect of connecting users to authoritative information on topics prone to disinformation.
